Mobile payment leader

Chinese consumers have looked beyond debit cards to new, cashless ways to buy, and users are adopting mobile payment (via QR code and phones) at a fast pace, going from £24m of transactions per year in 2012 to £9.8trillion in 2016.

The easy cashless payment system also means that a significant number of Chinese consumers now sell their own products online, as Accenture’s global lead for payments, Gareth Wilson, points out. “China’s mobile payments’ boom has emerged from a new kind of digitally savvy consumer,” he says.
